Dear Music Lovers,Catherine Massey, Music Director of the Unitarian Universalist Church
was kind enough to share information about a concert being hosted at
the Church. Sounds like a lovely evening of music.
Warmest,
Lee
Begin forwarded message:
Dear Lee,
We’re hosting a concert you and your network of folks may be
interested in. Jim Scott will be here Saturday (see announcement
below). He is a fabulous singer/songwriter/guitarist who used to
perform and compose with the Paul Winter Consort. I know him and have
heard him many times, and it will be a treat!
Cheers,
Catherine Massey
Please join us in an Earth and Spirit Songfest with Jim Scott on
Saturday July 12 at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000
S. Solano. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Come lend your voice to
an extemporaneous vocal celebration of earth and peace. Renew your
spirit and celebrate ideals in song. Drawing on his own music and
other songs of ecology, diversity, community and peace from classical
to jazz to world folk music, Jim turns the audience into a choir,
taught by ear and with an invitation to all to join in. The joyful
music of all sorts will inspire and educate. It’s a great
demonstration of music that can be used in spiritual gatherings and in
the greater movement for social change. Come listen or participate. No
experience necessary!
Composer, guitarist and singer Jim Scott was formerly a member of the
Paul Winter Consort and was co-composer of the Missa Gaia/Earth
Mass. He’s toured the world, recorded a number of CDs of original
music and many of his songs are published as choral arrangements.
His newest creation is “The Earth and Spirit Songbook” sponsored by a
grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalism. Jim often leads
concert presentations of this collection of over 100 songs of earth
and peace by many contemporary composers.

The wheels turned slowly after the George Winston concert. However, your contributions have been delivered to El Caldito Soup Kitchen. Thanks to you, and thanks to George Winston, $1535 was donated, along with a hefty bag of canned foods.
El Caldito offers a nutritious hot meal to about 200 people five days a week, and half that many on Saturdays. Their clients include not only homeless, but near-homeless, marginally-employed, families, young mothers with babies, the ill, elderly, and transients.
El Caldito is dependent on good will. Thank you, George Winston, for yours, and for the phenomenal music you produce. Thank you, friends, who generously support this cause.
Updates on House Concerts! Bob Einweck and Steve Smith gave us a most enjoyable, beautiful, fun concert on March 16. We celebrated the release of Bob’s newest CD, Bungalow with a great audience. Thanks again!
April 20! Put that one on your calendar, for the CD release party and concert for Steve Smith and Hard Road. As the wind dies down, we will move outside for this one, so there will be lots of room to move about and try out your dancin’ shoes. Stay tuned for details.
Happy Spring! Peace.
