This is about simplicity and art. This is about having fun and living life to the fullest 24/7 , 365. This is Starving Students. But, we’re not starving in the obvious sense. We’re starving for knowledge; starving for experience. We’re always looking for new people to spend time with and learn from; always looking for new adventures to embark on. We’re bright eyed and lively: guaranteed. This project is still brand new and we’re all about trying to make our music as unique and powerful as possible. So, please feel free to give us your input and critique (positive or negative) and get to know us, we’ll try and make it worth your time.
Mick Harris:A musical jack-of-all-trades, Mick began playing guitar when he was 9 and hasn’t taken a breath since. Mick sings, plays piano, and harmonica in addition to guitar and has a love for music theory and symphony composition. He hopes to compose film scores at some point in the future. Music aside, Mick loves reading & writing poetry, spending time with people he cares about, hiking, bicycling, and any one who’s up to the challenge of a good, in-depth conversation. He is currently enrolled in NMSU and plans to study a variety of things including theatre, communication skills, and economics.
Ian Clark:Ian’s instrument of choice was the alto sax for 8 years and he’s actively sung in choirs all his life. An all-around guy, Ian loves tattoos, football, reading, studying philosophy, and he’s a fighter at heart, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals and be the best person he can be. Ian is enrolled at MTTI (Massage Therapy Technical Institute) and plans to open his own practice as soon as he graduates this fall.

Jim Scott of the Paul Winter Consort in Las Cruces July 12
Dear Music Lovers,Catherine Massey, Music Director of the Unitarian Universalist Church
was kind enough to share information about a concert being hosted at
the Church. Sounds like a lovely evening of music.
Warmest,

Dear Lee,
We’re hosting a concert you and your network of folks may be
interested in. Jim Scott will be here Saturday (see announcement
below). He is a fabulous singer/songwriter/guitarist who used to
perform and compose with the Paul Winter Consort. I know him and have
heard him many times, and it will be a treat!
Cheers,
Catherine Massey
Please join us in an Earth and Spirit Songfest with Jim Scott on
Saturday July 12 at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000
S. Solano. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Come lend your voice to
an extemporaneous vocal celebration of earth and peace. Renew your
spirit and celebrate ideals in song. Drawing on his own music and
other songs of ecology, diversity, community and peace from classical
to jazz to world folk music, Jim turns the audience into a choir,
taught by ear and with an invitation to all to join in. The joyful
music of all sorts will inspire and educate. It’s a great
demonstration of music that can be used in spiritual gatherings and in
the greater movement for social change. Come listen or participate. No
experience necessary!
Composer, guitarist and singer Jim Scott was formerly a member of the
Paul Winter Consort and was co-composer of the Missa Gaia/Earth
Mass. He’s toured the world, recorded a number of CDs of original
music and many of his songs are published as choral arrangements.
His newest creation is “The Earth and Spirit Songbook” sponsored by a
grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalism. Jim often leads
concert presentations of this collection of over 100 songs of earth
and peace by many contemporary composers.
